Those folks at MS who support the flight simulator program should have software fixes and the resulting instructions already completed and available for the installation for those folks who have Window 10 platforms. If MS wants to maintain their loyal customer base, they need to be more responsive.
I must admit I kind of was a mac guy for the last 5 or so years and I came back to PC for the gaming. Makes me want to take back the PC. None of the old programs I wanted to run work on windows Even google chrome has issues. As for that link it was outdated. I was able to install a demo version of flight sim though. Not sure what that means so far I tend to think there is something amiss with the installer.

Not sure how long it too but longer than I thought. SO i thought it was frozen but it is just slow. Please leave this post up for some future. Yesterday, after having installed my brand new PC with Windows 10, I had the same problem as you got - being "stuck about the point where it is "removing applications".

I know this is an old post and I hope you all were able to get the game installed, but if not, I just built a Win10 with a Ryzen and had the same issue, after installing other flight sims, with no issue whatsoever, and getting better frame rates than most post.
With that said, FSX sat there at the same point of the installation, but eventually got past it and continued the install. I'm not sure what it installing DX or. Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community.
